Types of Tours

There are three types of Capitol tours available: legislative tours, historical tours and attic tours.

  • The Legislative Tour includes an overview of the legislative process and a possible visit to the House of Representatives and Senate. If possible, a visit with a legislator from your school's house/senate district will be arranged.
  • The Historical Tour includes highlights of Colorado's early history and the early pioneers, as well as the Capitol's architechural design, building materials, portraits, and stained glass windows.
  • The Dome Tour is cancelled due to a 30 month renovation.  To substitute, students willl tour Mr. Brown's attic, an exhibit featuring photographs and archival documents about the history of the Capitol. They also get a chance to learn about the renevations taking place to the dome.

However, since tour times are limited, if you sign up for a tour and find that you need to cancel or change your tour dates or times, please contact us as soon as possible so we may open up the tour to another school group, and/or try to accommodate your change request. Contact Sarah Pearman at 303-989-5356, x114 to inform us of your cancellation or to request a change.  Please note that tours fill up quickly and a change in tour time is not likely.
