Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE
The Director of Curriculum and instruction is the key driver of student achievement in the school. This person will support teachers in meeting their student achievement growth goals by: creating curricula, executing professional development, and individually coaching teachers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Maintain and support high expectations for all students, with the ultimate goal of raising student achievement;
● Consider and adopt new approaches to teaching, team collaboration, and intensive professional development in the best interests of students;
● Create curriculum that aligns to: Colorado State Standards, ACT College Readiness, and IB Diploma Program;
● Design effective formative and summative assessments that align to the above standards;
● Use data to drive instructional practices;
● Expose SFIAD’s students to international studies;
● Effectively use scheduled testing and remediation periods to improve student mastery;
● Commit to modeling SFIAD’s Core Values, and mentoring students’ character development;
● Communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
● Support the design and implementation of curriculum development with school leader;
● Quality assurance of teacher’s long term and lesson planning;
● Plan and implement professional development for teachers that is focused effective instructional strategies;
● Support school leaders in the delivery of professional development sessions;
● Individual teacher coaching and development;
● Track and analyze student achievement data.

QUALIFICATIONS
● Belief in and alignment with SFIAD’s Core Values and Vision;
● Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom;
● Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects;
● Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player;
● Minimum of five years teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting;
● Bachelor Degree required.
