Objective:
The Executive Director is the leader of our school. The individual will be responsible for implementing the Mission and Vision to the students, parents, faculty and staff, as well as maintain a culture of high academic achievement.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence and personal growth of every student, have successful experience with English language learners, staff development, supervision and instructional improvement, preparing students to be college-ready, and in-depth knowledge of curriculum development and elementary/secondary program design. The expectation of the Cesar Chavez Academy (CCA) Denver Executive Director will be that the majority of the role will be spent on instruction and direct supervision of the staff, faculty, administration, and in support of the strategic plan of the organization.
The Executive Director is expected to align the school, internally and externally, with the School’s strategic vision. The CCA Denver Executive Director is to facilitate business outside of the school The Executive Director is expected to raise funds through direct donations and/or fund raising activities and grant writing. A specific funding goal will be agreed upon by the Board of Directors yearly with input from the Executive Director. Another focus is to ensure the school is positively supported by the surrounding members of the community, the parents and businesses in the neighborhood. The Executive Director will be expected to represent CCA Denver in a positive way to the community by networking and personal involvement with the community.
The candidate must also possess a strong background in serving a demographic such as ours – a high percentage, free and reduced lunch students, including second language learners.
Essential Functions:
Instructional Leadership
• Serves as instructional leader, setting the tone and culture of the school.
• Displays a high level of understanding of the conditions that promote quality teaching and learning, and articulates an informed and cohesive philosophy of learning and teaching.
• Develops programs that support and enhance student achievement and success.
• Develops a strong culture of student leadership and decision-making.
• Understands and clearly articulates the links between curriculum, assessment and pedagogy and demonstrates skills to promote identify and evaluate the quality of classroom practice in concert with the Deans and the administrative team.
• Implements high-leverage strategies that align curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment and reporting.
• Participates in action research projects and use findings to influence school practices where appropriate.
• Understands how best to develop systems to support student learning, development and behavior.
• Fosters an innovative, futures-focused culture based on a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Acts as an advocate and provides a voice for students, staff and parents.
• Collaboratively develops and implements a school improvement plan that supports increased student achievement and success.
• Helps others in the workplace through best practices in adult learning and critical reflection.
• Provides constructive and professional feedback, coaching and mentoring to members of the school staff.
• Selects, supports, evaluates and/or retains high quality instructional and support personnel.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and provides direction and support for the accomplishments of instructional, curricular, and program requirements.
• Attends and participates in various meetings and takes a leadership role on designated district committees, as required or requested.
• Ensures for professional growth and development, attainment of the schools instructional goals, implementation of curriculum and effective use of all staff-based and facility-based resources.

• Recognizes, promotes, and builds the leadership capacity of staff, students, parents, and the community to enhance leadership density across the school community.
• Builds strategic alliances to engage and mobilize the support of policymakers, unions, students, parents and the community.
• Models and promotes respect for the diversity of student backgrounds, experiences, developmental needs and learning approaches.
• Plays a proactive role in shaping the future of education by promoting their leadership, their school, the profession and by publicizing education in the community.
• Creates a safe and productive learning environment, including establishing guides for proper student conduct.
• Maintains high visibility and devotes considerable time to interact with students, staff and community.
• Celebrates student and staff achievement through a range of highly visible strategies and uses a range of influence strategies that engage all staff in the school’s programs and policies.
• Communicates in a positive tone to staff and community a clear vision of achieving excellence and pursues that excellence in a manner consistent with the goals/objectives of Cesar Chavez Academy-Denver.
• Conducts his/herself in a way that aligns with the vision set forth by the Board of Directors of Cesar Chavez Academy-Denver.
• Encourages parent participation and active contributions within the school from other stakeholders.
Operations:
• Supervises the day to day operations of the school.
• Monitors the needs a of the school program(s) and solves problems quickly.
• Approves and participates in a variety of pupil activities, such as Student Council and special day events.
• Develops and implements effective management structures, strategies, and procedures.
• Supervises a staff of administrative, certified and classified personnel.
• Collaboratively, plans, prepares and administers the school budget, including the translation of educational needs, goals, and objectives into budgetary terms.
• Utilizes a marketing plan to enhance the community’s understanding and support of individual school-based educational programs
• Oversees and enforces all approved CCA-Denver policies.
• Oversees the master scheduling of all school functions and facilities.
• Oversees the inspection of buildings and grounds for safety and hazards and recommends alterations to and general improvement of facilities.
• Ensures for the proper maintenance, accuracy, completeness, confidentiality and security of all data/records.
• Oversees income and expenses and ensures that the school remains within the approved budget.
• Works with the Board to prepare the annual budget each year.
• Provides and keeps current on all district, state and federal requirements for financial reporting.
• Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required or requested.
Education/Experience:
Master’s Degree is preferred. Appropriate specialization such as education, administration, curriculum, instruction, and literacy will be strongly considered. Five (5) to seven (7) years of actual instructional/classroom experience as an educator is required. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Licensure/Qualifying Standards:
A current valid State of Colorado Principal License.
