Job Description:As a member of the DSST Public Schools Curriculum and Assessment team, the Manager of Data and Assessment will build, support, and manage systems to administer assessments, collect high-quality data, report out data, and train staff in ways that will leverage the use data at every level of the organization to inform instruction and to make strategic decisions about teaching and learning.

DSST Public Schools is a network of high performing 6-12 charter schools in Denver, Colorado. Since its inception in 2004, the Denver School of Science and Technology has boasted the highest performance and growth in Denver Public Schools. The success of this network has gained attention from both President Obama, when DSST was recognized as one of three finalists in the Commencement Challenge, and by Oprah Winfrey, who awarded DSST one million dollars as one of six top charter networks nationally. Over the next ten years, we will expand from three schools serving 1100 students to ten schools serving 4400 students.
Responsibilities:
Assessment:
Research and help to select external assessments that provide the best possible diagnostic, benchmark, performance, and growth measures for DSST Public Schools students and teachers.
Create a DSST Public Schools Assessment Calendar and provide the accountability and support necessary to ensure that schools are prepared to follow calendar and to meet all deadlines.
Order, set up, and deliver all external assessment tools to school sites, including the creation of class roster files, requests for accommodations, etc.
Set up and deliver all internal assessment tools (Placement Tests, Interim Assessments, and Final Exams) to school sites, including uploads to testing platform.
Serve as the DSST Public Schools Site Assessment Leader (SAL) for Colorado state testing, providing all necessary training and support to school SALs around the CSAP and ACT.
Provide all test administration training to Directors of Curriculum and Instruction and/or teachers, so that schools can effectively administer both internal (Interim Assessments) and external (CSAP, ACT, MAP) assessments.
During testing windows, monitor test administration and provide on-call support to teachers, Directors of Curriculum and Instruction (DCIs) and School Directors (SDs) to ensure smooth execution of testing.
Work with IT team to facilitate administration of assessments and data reporting for teachers, school leadership teams, and Home Office.
Partner with the Director of Curriculum & Assessment and school leadership teams to provide professional development around the creation of high-quality assessments and consistent scoring practices.
Data:
Collect and manage all DSST Public Schools student assessment data (both current and historical), so that reports can be compiled and analyzed at every level of the organization (student, teacher, school leadership, Home Office)
Serve as primary contact for all external data requests and provide data necessary for external reporting (funders, district, state, etc.) to school and Home Office staff.
Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum & Assessment and school leadership teams to provide professional development on data analysis to inform instruction.
Assist in the development and/or redesign of tools and protocols for effective data analysis at the student, teacher, school, and Home Office levels.
Conduct statistical analyses of student achievement data to facilitate analysis of performance across schools and over time.
Provide guidance and context necessary to school leadership teams to identify trends and analyze patterns in more complex statistical reports.
Design and generate assessment reports for School Directors, Home Office, and external audiences that answer key questions, offer a comprehensive overview of school and organization performance, and inform strategic planning around instruction.
Performance Management
Collect and manage data that measures employee performance throughout the organization
Support the collection of data specific to teachers pursuing the Master Teacher Career Pathway, currently in development
Develop data sets that support the assessment of other DSST Public Schools staff, including the Home Office and Front Office Managers
Serve as a member of the development team to create an integrated performance management system that can provide comprehensive and timely management reports to leaders throughout the organization
Provide leadership on the development of performance management dashboard for School Directors that provides indicators of success
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Commitment to DSST’s mission and Core Values
Knowledge of the education field, including familiarity with best practices in use of data and assessment
Experience in quantitative data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting with strong focus on data quality and continuous improvement processes
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; comfort evaluating and learning new software applications
Experience with statistical software and reporting tools preferred
Exceptional organizational skills with careful attention to detail
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated success in developing presentations and in presenting complex information to teachers, administrators, or other adults.
Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with other professional staff on instructional improvement issues.
Experience Required:
Advanced degree related to assessment, psychometrics, or statistics

This program is modeled closely after the Denver School of Science and Technology's first middle school in Stapleton which was the highest performing middle school in Denver Public Schools last year. The DSST Green Valley Ranch campus has a college preparatory focus and an emphasis on developing core liberal arts skills (reading, writing, mathematics) with a focus on the life and health sciences. This program prepares students for the rigorous high school program at DSST GVR Campus, acceptance to a four year college, and a future professional career in the health and life sciences if a student chooses.
