Job Description:

Sims-Fayola International Academy Denver is currently in the process of developing our charter for a Fall 2012 opening as a part of the Denver Public School System in the Far Northeast Region.

Sims-Fayola International Academy Denver is founded on the shoulders of research-based evidence regarding a single-gender educational environment. The learning experience at Sims-Fayola International Academy Denver is based on more than just the mere separation of genders, but on the benefits of the increased interaction of positive factors that significantly impact the educational experience. Factors like gender- effective instructional strategies and teachers who feel a personal responsibility to the plight of young men, indirectly produce a system of social supports that address the pressing needs of young men.

RESPONSIBILITIES

●             Maintain and support high expectations for all students, with the ultimate goal of raising student achievement;

●             Consider and adopt new approaches to teaching, team collaboration, and intensive professional development in the best interests of students;

●             Create curriculum that aligns to: Colorado State Standards, ACT College Readiness, and IB Diploma Program;

●             Design effective formative and summative assessments that align to the above standards;

●             Use data to drive instructional practices;

●             Expose SFIAD’s students to international studies;

●             Effectively use scheduled testing and remediation periods to improve student mastery;

●             Commit to modeling SFIAD’s Core Values, and mentoring students’ character development;

●             Communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

●             Belief in and alignment with SFIAD’s Core Values and Vision;

●             Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom;

●             Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects;

●             Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player;

●             Minimum of five years teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting;

●             Bachelor Degree required.
