2012-13 School Year

CIVA Charter High School seeks a full-time theater/film teacher for the 2012-13 school year (beginning August 2012).

CIVA Charter High School is a tuition-free, public high school in Colorado Springs District 11. CIVA’s small class sizes and supportive, family-like atmosphere provide a one-of-a-kind experience where teachers know students by name, and where students respect and care for one another. The strong culture of character and respect at CIVA is one that is unmatched by most traditional public high schools.

CIVA Charter High School has used its creative innovation to offer students more arts classes and college preparation opportunities including a college schedule format. Students may select from a variety of courses offered 2, 3 or 5 days per week. This format helps students adopt college study habits to ensure collegiate success. In addition to its standard/core curriculum, CIVA offers a variety of arts electives to round out each student’s educational experience.

CIVA meets all graduation requirements of Colorado Springs School District 11 as well as the state of Colorado.

Responsibilities
The theater/film teacher will be responsible for planning, developing and presenting organized learning opportunities in theater and film for students in accordance with approved curriculum and State standards at the assigned grade level. The teacher will prepare lesson plans, use data driven instruction to gauge student learning, maintain a welcoming, safe and attractive classroom environment, and establish high standards of student behavior.

Accountabilities
The theater/film teacher will be held accountable for student achievement and growth in their classroom, establishing relationships with both students and parents, and participating in all aspects of class and school planning. CIVA is seeking candidates that are reliable and punctual in order to provide continuity and stability in the classroom. Candidates should be self-starters with effective classroom management skills, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for education. In addition, candidates should be good team players and be willing to collaborate and share ideas with CIVA staff.

Job Qualifications/Experience/Education 
Must hold a Colorado teaching license and be Highly Qualified in secondary theater.
