Job Description:

Eagle Ridge Academy (ERA) is a 9th through 12th grade Charter High School located in Brighton, Colorado and is authorized by School District 27J. ERA offers a college preparatory program with a strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. ERA partners with Front Range Community College in a Concurrent Enrollment Program that allows students to receive both high school and college credit for selected courses.  ERA offers a hands-on content rich curriculum that incorporates 21st century learning skills along with Steven Covey’s  Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

 

ERA is looking for a Dean of Students (full time) for the upcoming 2012/2013 school year.  This position will remain open until filled.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

 

It is the mission of Eagle Ridge Academy to assist families in developing exemplary citizens by equipping students with fundamental knowledge enabling them to be culturally literate, prepared for college, and virtuous in character. We accomplish this through a rigorous curriculum of traditional content taught in a safe environment.

Job Responsibilities Include:

 

  1. Inspire students, families, staff and others to believe in and reflect the school’s mission, high expectations and values.
  2. Establish a school culture based on mutual respect for fellow students and staff, and hold each student and staff member to the highest level of accountability.
  3. Create and implement a program that increases student motivation and reduces discipline and academic probation referrals.
  4. Process all discipline issues, including investigating and resolving student disciplinary matters.
  5. Resolve student issues by meeting with students, teachers, parents and other staff and designing a plan of action.
  6. Track and manage discipline records.
  7. Lead in creating programs to address specific disciplinary issues that may arise throughout the year.
  8. Manage the academic progress of each student including academic probation programs.
  9. Coordinate and monitor all Friday School activities.
  10. Lead individual and small group meetings with students when necessary.
  11. Oversee the Senior Internship Program, including coordinating with businesses.
  12. Coordinate school-wide events such as field trips, awards programs, and community meetings.
  13. Plan and coordinate the Freshmen Boot Camp.
  14. Assist the Principal and Registrar with new student recruitment activities.
  15.  Ensure that all students are meeting the ERA graduation requirements.
  16. Oversee the school safety and emergency response program.
  17. Conduct monthly safety drills: fire, tornado, haz-mat, etc.
  18. Oversee the school-wide STEM Project.
  19. Create partnerships with the community.
  20. Adhere to and enforce the Warrior Way

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  1. Skills to manage student programs, communicate effectively through written and oral communications and problem solve.
  2. Knowledge of ERA’s policies and procedures. 
  3. Ability to enforce policies and procedures.
  4. Ability to make independent judgments, keeps and maintains accurate records, meets deadlines and communicates with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in educational leadership, counseling or similar area or comparable work experience.
  2. Three years teaching preferred. 
  3. Previous administrative or leadership experience preferred.
  4. Bilingual (preferred but not required)

Welcome to the inaugural 2010-2011 school year at Eagle Ridge Academy, a public school chartered by Brighton 27J School District. Eagle Ridge was opened in 2010 after the closing of the previous charter high school in Brighton. Eagle Ridge will offer a strong academic program in a safe learning environment for your children. The focus will be on a college preparatory program but with many improvements and innovations. A dual enrollment program will be expanded, allowing students to receive both high school and college credit for the same class. And, we will introduce a strong Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) path. The STEM program will provide an opportunity for interested students to receive an advanced start in careers such as architecture, engineering, medicine, science and technology. We will offer many exciting internship opportunities in these fields.
