SUMMARY
The Secondary School Principal at PRA will provide instructional, operational, and administrative leadership necessary to ensure success. The Secondary School Principal works with the Board of Directors, the Elementary School Principal and the School leadership team in driving the school’s vision and mission to positively impact student learning.
The Secondary School Principal is expected to guide staff in understanding and implementing the Core Knowledge Sequence across each grade level and content area. He or she organizes, administers, supervises, and evaluates all aspects of the school’s design within the school and the greater school community. The Secondary School Principal will be held accountable for the continuous improvement of the school and its staff in relation to increased student achievement.
The Secondary School Principal is responsible for planning improvements that directly address the school’s accountability. These improvements include but are not limited to, student performance, instructional processes, financial management, and community support.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policy and expectation documents, staff agreements, evaluation rubrics, curriculum maps and materials, and student assessment documents. Ability to effectively document classroom observations, analyze data to improve instructional practices and correspond with staff from all levels. Ability to speak effectively before groups of staff, students, Board of Directors, and parents.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The hours may be long when specific needs arise, thus some extended schedules will be necessary. This is a position that must attend to the needs of staff, Administrators, Prospect Ridge Academy Board of Directors and parents. Work may consist of ten (10) plus hour days with weekend work required from time to time. Prospect Ridge Academy is a dynamic school subject to changing work environments, adaptation of new educational principles and values, and shifting culture. Adaptability to change is essential.
