Pikes Peak Prep is a K-12 charter school located in Colorado Springs, CO, serving a high-needs and diverse population. The school is in its second charter contract with the Colorado Charter Schools Institute and currently serves 265 students with plans to grow enrollment to 360 and beyond. The school uses Core Knowledge as a base for instruction, and features a blended teacher-led and computer-assisted instruction model. The school also has an “early college” program and partners with Pikes Peak Community College to offer concurrent enrollment classes.

The position
The successful candidate for school leader will possess the above listed qualities, as well as a desire to work with disadvantaged youth, with the ultimate goal of every child going to college. Responsibilities include upholding the school mission and vision through leading efforts to hire, professionally develop, and communicate with staff on an ongoing basis. The school leader also serves as lead contact on curriculum development and implementation, including all student assessments. The School Leader creates a positive school climate by creating and enforcing behavior management policies and being accessible to and communicating with all families of students. He/she will enforce all enrollment policies and take the lead on student recruitment efforts. The school leader will coordinate closely with the GEO Foundation, a supporter of the school, and the school board of directors to assure that the school educational model is enforced and continuously improved. The successful candidate will also be able to position the school within the community, develop productive partnerships and after school programs. The qualified candidate will receive competitive compensation including full benefits.

Pikes Peak Prep is a member of the GEO Foundation family of schools. GEO is a nonprofit founded in 1998 based in Indianapolis and sponsors and supports the development of high quality public charter schools that provide K-14 opportunities to at-risk populations. There are currently 4 GEO supported academies in Gary, Indiana, Indianapolis, and Colorado Springs, Colorado with a new school under development in Gary, Indiana. Each GEO-sponsored school has a majority of low-income and/or minority students who have been ill-served by the traditional system. All of our schools expect academic growth of 1.5 years in each subject area per academic year.
