    Job Description: 
    The Director of Special Education will oversee the services of the online instructional programs for students with special needs.  S/he will provide leadership, staff development and communication for implementing an instructional program that meets the needs of Provost students. 

    Main Responsibilities:
    Student Achievement and IDEA Compliance
                •         Manage and provide instructional guidance, virtual teaching and general strategies for special education advisors and students
                •         Manage a caseload of 30 students
    •   Oversee the implementation and compliance for IEPs and 504 plans
    •         Facilitate weekly communication by Special Education Advisors with parents of students with special needs
    •         Consult with Synchronous Tutors and support the use of differentiated designed instruction to meet student’s IEP goals.
    •         Provide support to Special Education Advisors in various online instruction, including 1-on-1 and small group sessions
    •         Schedule, organize and chair all IEP/IDEA related meetings in a synchronous online environment
    •         Follow all IDEA procedures for the IEP process.
    •         Assist with locating service providers for students requiring services as written on the IEP
    •         Ensure that accurate and timely data is maintained by the special education advisors in the GradeBook System
    •         Monitor student progress in the Marks System and make corrections as required
    •         Assist with administering state testing and coordinate special accommodations listed on the IEP
    •  Work with the Director of Instruction to identify concerns and issues in the program and implement solutions


    Job Qualifications/Experience/Education:  Professional certification in Special Education, minimum 5 years experience, Masters Degree in Education-related field
