    Job Title: Vice President - Public Affairs

    Category: Full-time

    Job Description:

    The Colorado League of Charter Schools exists to improve student achievement and expand choice among high quality public schools by serving and supporting Colorado’s charter schools.

    The Colorado League of Charter Schools (The League) seeks candidates for the position of Vice President of Public Affairs. 

    Responsibilities include:
    -Shaping, promoting and implementing the League’s policy agenda.
    -Developing effective relationships with policy-makers, member schools and government agencies to develop and promote the League’s Advocacy Program agenda and related events.
    -Leading the League’s fund raising efforts in support of Advocacy Fund development.
    -Working collaboratively with the President and the Director of Communications to develop critical messaging for all stakeholders.
    -Managing and administering the League’s legal advocacy efforts including Advocacy Fund awards.
    -Managing the League’s Advocacy team, including advocacy associates, various contractors, and directing the Communications team’s advocacy efforts.
    -Participating actively with the League’s leadership team, including but not limited to providing informed input into the key organization-wide challenges, directions and decisions of the League.

    Skills and Qualifications required:
    -Background in law or public policy; a law degree is desirable but not required. 
    -Direct experience or familiarity with charter schools, Colorado education policy, Colorado education finance law, and Colorado’s legislative environment.
    -Ability to raise funds in support of the League’s advocacy efforts
    -Ability to perform tasks in a nonpartisan manner, with tact and political sensitivity
    -Supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to lead a team.
    -Demonstrated public speaking skills before a variety of audiences, including legislative committees and administrative bodies.
    -Demonstrated self-motivation, ability to act decisively and perform responsibilities with minimal oversight.
    -Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
    -Ability to work under time constraints and pressure
    -Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences and through varied media: written, oral, visual
    -Ability to learn new information rapidly and apply it
    -An appreciation for and ability to apply creativity in problem solving
    -Willingness to travel throughout the state.

    Salary will be commensurate with experience.
