Job Description:The BECS Board of Directors is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Vice-principal.
Scope of Position
Assist Principal in discharging his/her overall responsibility for the effective functioning of Bromley East Charter School
Education/Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Administration Certification in Colorado (Master’s Degree preferred)
Experience
• Minimum of three years charter school experience preferred
• Minimum of three years teaching experience
• Demonstrated experience in educational leadership
Skills
• Work effectively with Principal and Board of Directors
• Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with the staff, students, parents, and the community
• Effectively support and implement systemic improvements resulting in higher performance by staff and students
• Effectively lead a diverse staff and student population
• Effectively support and implement data-driven decisions following the school’s Accountability Plan
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders: students, parents, staff, and broader community
Performance Responsibilities
Educational Leadership
• The Vice Principal will assist the Principal to plan, manage, and supervise the school’s operations and instructional program.
• Drive and support implementation of the BECS Core Principles, set the tone and culture of the school, and hold the school accountable for student achievement.
• Support teachers in classroom management, discipline, safety, and curriculum.
• Communicate proactively (both positive and negative feedback) with staff, students, and parents.
• Facilitate regular staff meetings, Academic Family Meetings, and weekly Leadership meeting.
• Plan school-wide professional development along with Leadership Team.
• Assist with school-based student recruitment efforts.
• Supervise students on campus before and after school; monitor students during lunch, passing periods and other activities, discipline students according to established guidelines.
• Provide direction to a variety of faculty, staff, and student programs and services; participate in informal and formal classroom visitations and observations; provide recommendations and suggestions as appropriate.
Administrative and Operational Oversight
• Assist the Principal with day-to-day school operations and assumes responsibility in his/her absence.
Human Resources
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, supervising, supporting, developing, evaluating, disciplining and termination of staff.
• Work to monitor overall employment processes and issues including but not limited to the following: hiring, credentialing, fingerprinting, background checks, performance evaluations, and terminations.
• Other duties as assigned.
