    Job Description:

    The Odyssey School is a K-8 Expeditionary Learning charter school in Denver.  We are looking for a visionary individual who can implement and manage a K-8 adventure program imbedded in the mission and curriculum of the school starting August 2010.  The Adventure Coordinator must be highly organized and efficient in order to take care of the management (including risk management) of this program while also focusing on the programming that aligns with our adventure skills continuum and Habits of a Learner.  Individuals must be willing to work as part of a school-based professional learning community.  All candidates must have a bachelor’s degree experience in a related field such as environmental education and must have worked in a school setting with students from a diverse background.  Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field such as education, recreation, environmental education, adventure education. Several years experience working with children in related environments. Experience working with diverse populations and a variety of age groups. Technical skills in the activities listed above with preferred lead climbing experience. Experience leading multi-day backcountry trips. Experience with team building and cooperative games. Knowledge of and willingness to practice Leave No Trace outdoor ethics. Wilderness First Responder or higher certification from reputable source. Excellent decision making skills. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with students, teachers, families, and Program Coordinator. Understanding of the Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound school design and ability to facilitate integration of adventure and academics. Ability to drive fifteen passenger school buses and vans and acceptable driving record. Background check.
