Job Description:

Northeast Academy Charter School is a K-8 charter school in its sixth year of operation.  Northeast Academy is currently in the early stages of a school turnaround that will involve a transition in the school’s educational program.

Northeast Academy is conducting a search to hire a principal that will lead the school and community on a successful Core Knowledge path.  The new school leader will be expected to adopt a classical/liberal arts approach to instruction to complement the Core Knowledge scope and sequence.  This includes the introduction of Great Books discussions utilizing the Socratic method in addition to introducing Latin in the middle school grades. Experience and/or certification in K-12 public education is neither required nor preferred. The principal must have demonstrated mastery in teaching at some level and will be expected to teach at least one class.

The Northeast Academy Board of Directors is looking for someone to build upon established traditions here in Northeast Denver while also implementing an educational philosophy adopted from Ridgeview Classical Schools, in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Responsibilities:
-Report to a Board of Directors
-Primary job responsibilities
1. hiring, training, and supervision of faculty
2. intellectual and moral development of the student body
3. oversight and implementation of curriculum

Minimum Job Requirement
-Master's degree in liberal arts or science
-Experience as a leader
-Master teacher

Desirable Characteristics
-Ability to be spokesperson for educational reform
-Previous experience with K-12 age urban students
-Understanding of learning disabilities
-Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills

Submit your completed application (found on the Ridgeview Website), letter of interest (1 page) explaining why you want to be the head principal of Northeast Academy Charter School (NACS), statement of your educational philosophy (1 page), C.V. and all college transcripts and a short writing sample.  Applications without accompanying transcripts will not be considered. An unofficial copy may be sent initially. Candidates must thoroughly understand and support the mission and philosophy of classical education.

Candidates being seriously considered for a position will be invited for an extensive, on-campus interview at Ridgeview and Northeast Academy. The Northeast Academy Board of Directors, various other stakeholder groups, and members of our hiring team will interview the candidate. The candidate will also be required to interact and perform a mock teach lesson (either for elementary or for middle school).
