Located south of Standley Lake in a new 44,000 square foot building, Excel Academy Charter School, an Official Core Knowledge public school of choice serving 450 K-8 students, is seeking a clinic aide. Founded in 1995, our school’s mission is to provide an academically rigorous education based on best practices including the Core Knowledge Sequence, Modern Red Schoolhouse Standards, GT strategies, use of Montessori materials, and a respectful learning environment. A modified year-round calendar, multi-age learning labs, strong parental involvement, small class size, and character education support these practices.
Overview:
Excel Academy is seeking a part-time Clinic Aide. This position would be for 4-5 hours per day, in the time frame of about 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The position requires someone who can maintain the management of the school clinic and address the health needs of the students per school standards and policy. Duties require training from the Area Registered Nurse in healthcare issues including safe medication administration (i.e. nebulizers, glucose meters, EPI pens). Ability to work with students with special medical needs, student behavioral management, computers, and office equipment is required.
Responsibilities:
Specific duties include:
•Administer care and monitor injured or ill students within guidelines of Jeffco Clinic management under the support of the Area Registered Nurse and as identified in the Clinic Aid Training and Resource Manual. Supervise and manage student behavior while students are in clinic.
•Administer medications within school and district guidelines and policy and document appropriately.
•Maintain accurate and current student immunization records on the District computerized system.
•Communicate with parents regarding medications, injuries, immunization status, vision and hearing screening of students.
•Complete School Medicaid Program documentation and prepare student health records for transitions.
•Maintain log of student visitations to the clinic.
•Maintain orderly and updated student health folders within the clinic confidential files.
•Organize vision and hearing screening/re-screening for students; refer students for further testing as needed.
•Prepare student health records for transitions.
•The Clinic Aid may experience high exposure to common illnesses/diseases from bodily fluids due to contact with sick or injured students.
Skills/Ability:
The Clinic Aid must have strong communication skills, organization, and follow-through skills. The ability to multi task and to work with students with varied health problems and to demonstrate appropriate judgment of clinic management after training. Candidate must be able to work independently.
Experience/Knowledge:
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•CPR and First Aide certifications
•Cross training from the Area Nurse Consultant in healthcare including appropriate medication administration (i.e. nebulizers, glucose meters, EPI pens).
•Must complete 12 hour training course (new Clinic Aides) after hire and prior to assuming responsibilities.
•Familiar with Campus (District computerized record keeping program)
