New School Grant Opportunities

The League's Grant Partners Program offers two grant opportunities for new charter school development:

Walton Family Foundation (WFF) Grant Program

The WFF grant program is designed to provide two types of planning and start-up grants to support development of new, academically-rigorous schools for students from low-income backgrounds. WFF grants are restricted to planned new schools where 50% or more of the student population will:

  • be eligible for free and reduced-price meals; and
  • come from the following school districts: Adams County District 50 (Westminster), Aurora Public Schools, Colorado Springs District 11, Denver Public Schools, Harrison District 2 (Colorado Springs), and Jefferson County Public Schools.

WFF start-up grants are also available for replication. Schools developers are encouraged to contact the League for guidance before applying for WFF grant program support.

Other Planning Grants

Through the Daniels Fund, the League offers small planning grants to support new school development in locales that are not eligible for funding support from the WFF grant program. Grant applications are available by calling the League's New School Development Office.
