    Problem-Solving/Consultation
    The problem-solving process is pivotal to RtI implementation with fidelity and directly contributes to the validity of the body of evidence required for Specific Learning Disability eligibility determination as well as other disability categories.  This module targets the problem-solving that occurs at the individual student level utilizing a consultant model to gain information and to support teachers and parents throughout the problem-solving process.
    Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    1.Support and cooperate with other school staff in the problem-solving process by utilizing effective consultation skills.

    2.Apply understanding of the steps in the problem-solving process by completing an RtI plan that can be utilized for a body of evidence for eligibility to special education through a multi-tiered RtI framework.

    3.Participate in consultation by recognizing issues related to engaging in a problem-solving process, and considerations for evaluation for special education eligibility.

    4.Identify the components of consulting on reading, social emotional, gifted & talented, and English language learner issues.

    5.Apply appropriate evaluation methods related to the problem-solving process and when necessary special education evaluation.

    There is no cost to you for this course unless you sign up for credit.  One credit hour will be available through Adams State College.
