Opportunities for Public Feedback - School readiness and primary grade assessments

    Date: Wednesday March 17,2010

    Event Type: open house

    Location

    Steamboat Springs

    Description

    Opportunities for Public Feedback
The Colorado Department of Education is seeking public input on the development of the new student achievement tests.

The department is conducting a statewide tour to hear from stakeholders across Colorado. The tour stops are seeking public comment on what aspects of the current assessment system are important and what changes should be made.

The tour is split into two parts. One is devoted to school readiness and primary grade assessments and the other is devoted to postsecondary and workforce readiness and secondary grade assessments. Meeting times and precise locations are yet to be announced.  They will be posted online at http://www.cde.state.co.us/ASMTRev/publictour.htm when the information becomes available.

Stakeholder Meetings Open to the Public
The Assessment Stakeholder Committee meetings are open to the public. These meetings provide an excellent opportunity to hear the committee conversations firsthand. Meeting agendas do not include a public comment section, but questions or comments will be collected from public attendees at the conclusion of each meeting.

If you would like to give us your feedback at any point in the process, please send all comments to Assessment_Review@cde.state.co.us.

Your emails will be relayed to the Assessment Stakeholders Committee and/or the appropriate subcommittee.

For more information, contact Mark Stevens, 303-866-3898, or Megan McDermott, 303-866-2334, in the CDE Office of Communications. To sign up for the CDE e-mail news service, please visit http://www.cde.state.co.us/Communications/index.html
