16th Annual Charter Conference
Welcome to the RECAP of the 16th Annual Colorado Charter Schools Conference: Charter 2.0 - Demanding Choice. Defining Quality.
"Charter 2.0 - Demanding Choice. Defining Quality." was this year's conference theme tying into the League's new, three-year strategic plan and a renewed focus on giving parents more high-quality public school options.
The conference is a great opportunity for charter school leaders, board members, teachers, parents and others to connect with, and learn from, their colleagues and experts in the field. This year, were expecting over 350 attendees from across the state, but were stunned to get over 500 attendees!
This year, the conference featured a new advocacy opportunity. On February 25, participants visited the Colorado State Capitol to meet with their elected officials and educate them about the importance of charter schools and public school choice for our kids. We had a lot of good feeback from this new opportunity. Unfortunately the Senate did not need to be on the floor that day, so some participants were unable to meet with their elected officials. Overall, Advocacy Day went very well. Many parents, school leaders and board members seemed to enjoy touring the Capitol and getting the charter school voice heard.
The conference also featured over 60 breakout sessions covering various areas of charter school governance and operations as well as an exhibit floor with the latest in products and services for charter schools.
