Two-Part Training on Using Alpine as a Progress Monitoring Tool for Student Learning:  Part 1- Introduction to the Plan Builder System in Alpine Achievement and working with Response to Intervention Plan and Part 2-Applying the Colorado Growth Model to Alpine
Date: Thursday, August 20, 2009
Time:  9:00AM – 3:30 PM
Location:  Sundance Mountain Lodge (1865 Woodmoor Dr, Monument, CO 80132)
Cost:  $100 per person for member schools, $150 per person for non member schools (Registration includes materials, and lunch).

Having a laptop at the training is optimal.

Course Description: Join us in the morning for a demonstration and overview on using the Plan Builder System (ie. highlighting the RtI plan). In the afternoon, we will explore the Colorado Growth Model and how you can use this data to build your body of evidence, as an additional tool for progress monitoring and tracking student-level progress. Topics include:

  • Overview of preformatted plans (RTI, Gifted and Special Education Plans)
  • Creating, implementing and managing plans 
  • Concepts and structures of plans
  • Brief overview of the Colorado Growth Model, a growth percentile, and accessing your data.
  • Summarizing the executive summary report for your school, to answer Summarizing trends, the executive summary report for your school to answer questions such as, do students at your school make more growth in one subject than another?  Do particular groups of children in your school make more growth than others?
  • Exploring growth targets for individual students using the goal setting spreadsheet & data from the Colorado Growth Model.

Course Description:

  • Summarizing the executive summary report for your school, to answer questions such as, do students at your school make more growth in one subject than another?  Do particular groups of children in your school make more growth than others?
  • Summarizing trends in matched data (using the longitudinal proficiency levels report, matched trends worksheet handout) and cohort trends (quasi-longitudinal).
  • Calculating gaps by using the disaggregated summary spreadsheet and basic & advanced Excel skills.
  • Exploring growth targets for individual students using the goal setting spreadsheet & data from the Colorado Growth Model.
  • Student level goal setting with CSAP data (using the raising the bar with proficiency descriptors report)
  • Data Leadership: How does a school leader facilitate deeper learning about data for teachers?

NOTE: If you are using Alpine Achievement through the League, please contact your authorizer to ensure you get access to your CSAP scores shortly after they are released. This is also a great time to update your school users to ensure participants can access the system the day of the training and upload a current student file to ensure that students move into their new grade level for school year 2009-10. Questions?
